Go to a doctor now if: Bleeding not stopping after 20 min of pressure, very heavy bleeding, frequent unexplained nosebleeds, easy bruising elsewhere, bleeding after a head injury, or a possible object in the nose — seek care.
Food-first comfort
(First aid) Sit the child up, lean slightly forward, pinch the soft part of the nose for 10 minutes; stay calm. Prevent with hydration, vitamin-C foods, and a little humidity; a dab of coconut oil inside the nostril rim for dryness.
What to nourish
Vitamin-C and iron foods; good hydration to keep membranes moist.
Never
Don't tilt the head back (blood goes down the throat), don't pack the nose with cotton/tissue deep inside, don't panic the child.
Care at home
Most nosebleeds are from dryness/picking and stop with correct pressure. Keep membranes moist and hands away from the nose.
