Go to a doctor now if: Green/bile or blood in vomit, forceful projectile vomiting in a young baby, vomiting with severe belly pain or stiff neck/headache, signs of dehydration, vomiting after a head injury, can't keep any fluid down — seek care.
Food-first comfort
Rest the stomach briefly, then small frequent sips of ORS/clear fluids; once settled, bland foods — banana, rice, toast, khichdi, curd. Breastfeed in small frequent amounts.
What to nourish
Bland BRAT-style foods as tolerated; rebuild to normal diet within a day.
Never
No anti-vomiting medicines without a doctor. Don't force large drinks at once (triggers more vomiting). No honey under 1y.
Care at home
Slow, patient rehydration is key. Watch hydration closely in babies and toddlers.
