Food-first comfort
This is doctor-led care, not a kitchen remedy. The single most helpful thing at home is frequent, effective feeding - breast milk (or formula) on demand, roughly 8-12 times a day, so the baby passes plenty of stools that carry the yellow pigment out. Wake a very sleepy baby to feed. Keep the baby comfortable and watch wet/dirty nappies. Some gentle indirect daylight in the room is fine, but do NOT rely on sunlight as treatment.
What to nourish
Breast milk or formula only at this age - feed often and effectively; a feeding mother eats her normal balanced diet and stays well hydrated.
Never
Care at home
Newborn jaundice is common and usually settles, but it must be checked by a doctor because a small number of babies need light therapy. Frequent, effective feeding is the best home support - it is never a replacement for medical review.
