Food-first comfort
Rest and fluids lead the way: warm water, clear soups, dal water, coconut water and diluted fresh juice to keep hydration up; light, easy meals like khichdi, rice-and-curd or vegetable soup when appetite is low; warm turmeric milk at night (2y+); a little honey in warm water with lemon to soothe the throat (1y+); steam from a warm bath to ease a blocked nose; small frequent sips if the tummy is off.
What to nourish
Warm fluids, soups, khichdi, curd/yoghurt, soft fruit, vegetables and whole grains as appetite returns; keep offering water.

Care at home
Flu makes children feel rotten for a few days; warmth, rest and steady fluids are the mainstay of comfort. Watch the breathing and the hydration, and seek care for any red-flag sign - high-risk children may need antiviral or other medical care.
