Scabies (supportive, topical)

For: intense itching worse at night, tiny burrows and rashy bumps between fingers, wrists, waist; spreads within households

Traditional use
See a doctor if: Widespread crusting, pus/infection, fever, involvement in infants/elderly, or itch persisting after treatment — see a doctor for definitive scabicide

Kitchen remedies

Hot-wash all bedding and clothing; treat close contacts together; keep nails short; neem-turmeric bathing; coconut oil to soothe; strict hygiene to stop spread

How to prepare

Neem-leaf boiled water for bathing; neem + turmeric paste applied to affected skin is a classical anti-scabetic. Karanja oil traditionally used topically. Wash and sun-dry all linen the same day.

Cautions

Scabies is contagious and usually needs a doctor-prescribed scabicide (permethrin) to fully clear — herbs are adjunct/soothing. Avoid neem internally in pregnancy. Treat the whole household.
