Peptic / Stomach Ulcer (supportive, adjunct)

For: gnawing or burning upper-tummy pain (often when hungry or at night), bloating, nausea, easily feeling full

Some research
See a doctor if: Black/tarry stools, vomiting blood or coffee-ground material, severe or sudden abdominal pain, unexplained weight loss, or difficulty swallowing — urgent medical care

Kitchen remedies

Fresh cabbage juice; ripe banana and unripe-plantain flour; small frequent bland meals; buttermilk; soaked and blended almonds; avoid chilli, coffee, alcohol, smoking and NSAID painkillers; wholesome fibre

Featured herbs

Yashtimadhu/Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) [DGL tradition, mucosa-soothing], Amla (Phyllanthus emblica), Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus) [uncommon demulcent], Guduchi/Giloy (Tinospora cordifolia) [uncommon], Bael/Bilva (Aegle marmelos) [uncommon gut-lining]

How to prepare

A small glass of fresh cabbage juice on an empty stomach, traditionally taken as a daily course. Licorice (deglycyrrhizinated form preferred) before meals. Ripe banana and amla support the stomach lining. Eat small, non-spicy meals and never skip food.

Cautions

Adjunct only — ulcers need medical diagnosis (H. pylori test) and treatment. Plain licorice can raise blood pressure and lower potassium; limit to short courses and avoid in hypertension/pregnancy (DGL is safer). Stop NSAIDs only under medical advice.

Related remedies

When to see a doctor. Home remedies are for minor, self-limiting complaints in adults. They are not a substitute for medical care, and herbs can interact with medicines. Not for children under the ages stated, in pregnancy, or with chronic conditions without a doctor's advice.
