Farmicine nutritional wellness review

Your Bloodwork Review

Summary. Some results need a doctor's look in the next week or two. The plan below supports that visit; it does not replace it.

Stop or avoid

Thyroid antibodies are present. Avoid iodine, kelp and seaweed supplements.

What nutrition can correct

severe deficiencyIron (Serum ferritin 8.5)

Iron stores exhausted

Food first: Garden cress seeds (halim), rajma, chana and other pulses, ragi, bajra, jaggery-sesame chikki, amaranth and drumstick leaves; liver, mutton, egg, fish for non-vegetarians

Absorb it better: Pair with vitamin C (amla, lemon, guava) at the same meal; keep tea and coffee 1 hour away; do not take with calcium or dairy

Supplement: a practitioner will review the right dose for this level before we suggest one.

Caution: Never start iron when ferritin is high or with thalassaemia trait; keep tablets locked away from children (fatal poisoning risk)

Retest in about 12 weeks. Haemoglobin rises about 1 g/dL in 3-4 weeks; ferritin refills over 3 months

moderate deficiencyVitamin D (25-hydroxyvitamin D 14.2)

Deficient

Food first: Sunlight on arms and legs 15-30 minutes around midday; egg yolk, oily fish (rawas, bangda/mackerel, sardine), UV-exposed mushrooms, fortified milk and oil

Absorb it better: Take with the largest meal that contains fat; pair with magnesium and vitamin K2-rich foods

Supplement: a practitioner will review the right dose for this level before we suggest one.

Caution: Stop if calcium is high, with kidney stones, sarcoidosis or granulomatous disease; never exceed 4000 IU/day long-term without review

Retest in about 12 weeks. 25-OH-D rises about 1 ng/mL per 100 IU/day; plateaus by 12 weeks

mild deficiencyVitamin B12 (Serum vitamin B12 238.0)

Grey zone: possible deficiency, confirm with MMA or homocysteine

Food first: Curd, paneer, milk and buttermilk daily; eggs; fish, chicken, mutton; fortified foods. Plant foods supply almost none

Absorb it better: Oral high-dose works even with poor absorption (about 1% absorbs passively); metformin and acid-reducers reduce uptake

Supplement guide: 1000 mcg, daily. Preferred forms: Cyanocobalamin; Methylcobalamin; Adenosylcobalamin (dibencozide)

Caution: Numbness, tingling, balance or memory problems need a doctor promptly; correct B12 before or with folate

Retest in about 8 weeks. Serum B12 rises within weeks; MMA and homocysteine fall over 1-3 months; nerve symptoms improve slowly

pattern signalSelenium

Food first: One or two Brazil nuts, eggs, fish, sunflower seeds, mushrooms, whole wheat

Absorb it better: Selenomethionine is well absorbed

Caution: Do not stack with Brazil nuts at high doses; hair or nail loss means excess

Retest in about 12 weeks. Weeks

suboptimalFolate (Serum folate 6.1)

Adequate but below functional target

Food first: Dark leafy greens (palak, methi, amaranth), pulses (chana, rajma, moong), sprouts, oranges, papaya, beetroot

Absorb it better: Folate is heat sensitive; include raw or lightly cooked greens and sprouts

Supplement guide: 400 mcg DFE, daily. Preferred forms: Folic acid; L-5-MTHF (L-methylfolate / levomefolate)

Caution: Do not take folate on its own when B12 is low or unknown

Retest in about 8 weeks. Serum folate normalises in weeks; red-cell folate over 3-4 months

suboptimalMagnesium (Serum magnesium 1.8)

Lab-normal but below functional target; serum misses most deficiency

Food first: Pumpkin and sunflower seeds, almonds, cashews, ragi, bajra, whole wheat, pulses, leafy greens, banana, dark chocolate

Absorb it better: Glycinate or citrate are gentle; split doses; separate from iron and zinc by 2 hours

Supplement guide: 100–200 mg elemental, daily. Preferred forms: Magnesium citrate; Magnesium glycinate / bisglycinate; Magnesium malate; Magnesium L-threonate; Magnesium chloride; Magnesium taurate

Caution: Avoid supplements with reduced kidney function (eGFR < 30); loose stools mean the dose is too high

Retest in about 8 weeks. Serum changes within weeks; red-cell magnesium over 2-3 months

What your results show together

Iron-deficiency anaemia

Your blood count and iron stores together point to iron-deficiency anaemia. Iron-rich foods help, and an iron supplement is usually needed; we also recommend a doctor checks why iron is low (diet, periods, or blood loss from the gut).

Insulin resistance

Your results suggest insulin resistance: your body needs more insulin to handle sugar. Meal order, fibre, protein, movement and weight change are the main levers; magnesium and chromium status matter.

Prediabetes

Your sugar markers are in the prediabetes range. This is the stage where food and activity changes work best; please also let your doctor know.

Atherogenic dyslipidaemia

High triglycerides with low HDL is the most common lipid pattern in Indians and responds strongly to cutting refined carbs and sugar, more fibre, oily fish or omega-3, and activity.

Raised LDL

Your LDL cholesterol is raised. Soluble fibre (oats, isabgol, legumes), nuts and plant sterols, and less saturated and trans fat lower it; your doctor should assess your overall heart risk.

Fatty liver signal

A mildly raised ALT with metabolic markers often means fat in the liver (MASLD). Weight loss of 7-10%, less sugar and refined carbs, coffee and activity are the main levers; an ultrasound confirms it.

Subclinical hypothyroid with autoimmunity

Mildly raised TSH with thyroid antibodies suggests early autoimmune thyroiditis (Hashimoto's). Selenium, vitamin D and iron status matter; avoid high-dose iodine and kelp; your doctor should monitor TSH.

Possible vitamin B12 deficiency in a vegetarian

Vegetarian diets in India supply little B12. Dairy and curd help, but a B12 supplement is usually the reliable route.

Food and lifestyle plan

Insulin resistance

Vegetables first, protein second, carbs last; swap white rice/maida for millets and whole grains; 20-30 g fibre; walk 10 min after meals; sleep 7 h

Prediabetes

Same as insulin resistance plus 5-7% weight loss if overweight

Programme: nm-blood-sugar-balance · Retest in 12 weeks

High TG / low HDL

Cut sugar, sweets and refined carbs; oily fish or omega-3; nuts; limit alcohol; daily activity
